Most of our customers design their marketing pieces and bring them to us for mailing.  We have included information designed to help you understand the process.  This information and our personal recommendations will ensure your marketing piece meets the highest quality standards and accomplishes your goals.

Paper Color and Weight

Color
Certain colored paper does not meet the background reflectance requirement for automated processing. These colors include dark colors, such as holiday-style red and green, and darker fluorescent colors.
Colors that work well are white and pastel colors.
This guideline pertains to the address area only.

Weight

For Tri-fold pieces we recommend a minimum of 28 pounds. If you have questions about ideal paper color or weight, our team can help. Contact us for a free review of your design.

Tabbing and Envelopes

Tabbing

If your mail piece is to be folded, i.e., bi-fold or tri-fold, it must be designed so that the fold is at the bottom and the tab(s) can be placed at the top. Tabs must be permanent and not removeable. For more information, feel free to download a Folded Self-Mailer Reference Guide.

Envelopes

If you plan to stuff your envelopes for sealing and mailing, you can save money by ensuring all flaps are folded down so they run through the machine properly. Extra charges will apply for us to fold flaps down.
